Onam Coconuts
gouache and gold leaf
Piece displayed at the Sanjay Patel & Friends show at Gallery Nucleus and presented by SAVA (South Asians in Visual Arts). The original painting was sold during the presale and prints were sold out at the opening event. This piece reflects the feeling of Kerala during Onam, the harvest festival. For me, this means gold-lined kasavu sarees made of cotton fabrics, fragrant jasmine flowers, warm sunlight, and tender coconuts. I hope this painting offers both a personal connection for those who recognize these experiences and a welcoming entry point for others.
